The
cloud storage file size limits was sad need in days when the Internet speeds
were low and the storage were quite high.
But now it the restriction is converting the file size is increasing
with the need of users. Microsoft is slowly and the quietly dropping the individual
file size limits for OneDrive users following the footsteps of Dropbox and
Google Drive.
Omar
Shahine Microsoft group program manger took OneDrive's uservoice forums to
complain about the 2GB file size limit saying “It’s not arbitrary. It’s simply
an old limit that we’ve been working on removing for far too long now. The good
news is that we are actively working on this."
And
you can see that the promise proved true. In just weekend many social media
reports have claimed that Microsoft drop 2GB file size limit for OneDrive. And
Microsoft confirmed this statement by issuing the below statement :
"As we mentioned on our UserVoice, we
have started the work to increase the file size limit for all OneDrive
accounts. We have started the process with a small number of customers and will
continue to roll it out to our full customer base. We will have more to share
on this update in the near future, stay tuned to the OneDrive blog."

And
if you are seeing the 2 GB file size limit then have patient. It is going to be
removed soon. After the removal of file size limits it will give you the
opportunity to fill the cloud storage quota more faster which will encourage
the adoption of premium OneDrive subscriptions. Microsoft have increased the
total free storage available to users—15GB for general accounts and 1TB for
Office 365 subscribers. It will be a good news for the user who were once
disappointed with the 2GB file size limit.
